Chakra means spinning wheel. Your chakras are spinning wheels of energy. We have 7 main chakras and several small chakras. The seven main chakras begin at the base of the spine and go up to the top of the head; they are root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown. We have smaller chakras in our hands which are extension of the heart chakra.

The chakras are our energy centers. They work like a vortex by taking in energy and incorporating it then emanating energy out. Each chakra except the crown chakra encircle the body, meaning it doesn't just sit in front in goes 360 around the body. The crown chakra shoots up from the top of the head.

All of the main chakras are associated with a color and this is the color of energy it puts out. Each chakra also aligns with different aspects of the physical, emotional, spiritual and subtle bodies. This is why we want to balance our chakras. When out of balance or blocked we feel discomfort and disease plus illness can occur. Balancing the chakras can be simple when you know which chakra to work with.
